Hi All!
I can't believe it's almost the LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL! Where has the time gone?
This is just a reminder that our field trip to the Gulf of Maine Research Institute is on Monday! Students need to be at school at 6:45 am to wait in the cafeteria. Students can enter through either the front doors or back door of the cafe. They should have a bag lunch and a morning and afternoon snack, along with drinks/water bottle. Our departure is at 7:00 and we unfortunately cannot wait for students who are late. We will show a G-rated movie on the bus, but students are allowed to bring their electronics if they would like and you feel they are responsible enough.
Some Academic Updates:
Math: We have finished all of our 5th grade standards in Math. Some students are going on the 6th grade material and others are continuing to practice some 5th grade skills that need work.
Reading: This past week we read and preformed reader's theater that goes with our Social studies curriculum. There were 3 short plays that the student's preformed for classmates - pictures of groups are below!
Writing: We are currently finishing up historical fiction narratives. The students are really getting into the character and time-period of the revolutionary war and are showing off all of the great writing techniques they have learned this year!
Social Studies: We have covered many of the major battles of the revolutionary war and next week we will finish up our year by talking about the Constitution. Also important, we will have our final 50 states quiz next Tuesday! The links on the SS page of my blog will be a big help - if your child has some time this weekend between enjoying the weather and fun events, it would be a great thing to practice!!
