Hello All,
Hope all enjoyed some time to relax during or double snowstorm! Only a few days left until February Break (Feb 15-19).
Reminders:
1. Biome presentation projects are due FRIDAY! Students should be working on their visual and preparing their 2-3 minute presentation. If students are participating in Walk to School Day on Friday, feel free to bring projects to school on Thursday.
2. Walk to School Day is Friday!
3. We are having our Valentine exchange on Friday. A pink note went home last week with a class list. Valentines are optional, but if a student brings valentines there should be one for every member of the class.
Academic Updates:
Math: We are moving through Topic 9 which introduces adding and subtracting fractions. my goal was to complete Topic 9 before break - stay tuned to planners about whether there will be a math assessment on Friday.
Reading: We are about halfway through Tale of Despereaux. Today we began making a class timeline to show many of the events from the first two sections of the book. The timeline will span across our windows and each student is illustrating an event!
Writing: This week we are working on descriptive writing by designing our own restaurant menus - there are lots of cuisines in our room these days! Desserts, burgers, steak, mac and cheese, and more! Students are working on adding lots of strong adjectives!
Science: We are continuing our Life Science unit. We are working on parts of a plant and the plant life cycle.
Enjoy a relaxing February Break!
Molly
