Hello!
This afternoon we had our Hispanic Heritage Month Assembly. Because our class is in Spanish this Term, we got to participate by showing the school a traditional game. The class did a great job! A few pictures are at the bottom!
Announcements/Reminders:
1. Full band starts on Monday! Make sure your child brings their instrument!
2. There was no Friday Folder this week, because there was nothing to go home.
What we're working on:
Math: We have started Unit 3 - Geometry. We took our Unit 2 Retest on Thursday. Some students still have skills to work on, but that's alright! We'll keep working! Your student may need to plan a time to stay after school for HW Club on a Wednesday or Thursday to get the extra help they need. In the meantime we've been hard at work measuring angles!
Reading: We finished reading The City of Ember! The end was certainly a cliff-hanger, ask your child about it! Good thing there's a sequel (and many of the students are dying to read it)! I am hoping to show the movie version to compare and contrast to the book and discuss multimedia interpretations, so stay tuned for a permission slip next week!
Writing: We read each other's personal narratives this week and gave each other compliments! Pictures of this process can be found below! We started our fiction writing unit on Thursday, where we will be working on the same standards that we covered in our narrative unit. Thursday, we did a writing activity where we worked on describing a setting that got everyone excited about writing! On Friday during Writing, we got a chance to go to the library so that Mrs. Foss could tell us about DestinyQuest! Ask your child about it!
Social Studies: We have started our Early American Unit by discussing Pangaea and how archaeologists, geologists, and historians have pieced together history. We will continue discussing theories of human migration, the ice age, and various Native American cultures in the coming weeks.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Ms. M
